The Strand Suites and Dormitel

My room had a window, plenty of space, and a solo bed at a great rate. The staff were incredibly kind, too. I absolutely loved staying here, and it was easily one of my best stays on my Mindanao trip. I’d happily come back whenever I’m in Davao.

Our room was comfortable, though the AC took a while to cool it down. An electric fan helped and kept the room adequately cool. The front desk team, including Paul, was courteous and efficient throughout. They gave us great help with parking, and the stay went smoothly. We highly recommend the place and plan to return.

The free breakfast is basic, just bread and coffee, but it suited me well. They start serving at 5 AM, which helped since I was in Davao for an exam and had to head out early. The Strand Suites and Dormitel was clean and cozy, and the staff were exceptionally kind, accommodating, and helpful. Getting there takes a bit of a walk from the national highway. There’s no elevator, so you also need to take the stairs to your room. That may be hard for older guests or people with disabilities. I saw the stairs as a bit of extra exercise, but with big or multiple bags, expect to work up a sweat. For the price, I thought it was well worth it, and I enjoyed my stay. I’ll book again when I return to Davao, and I recommend it. Preferences differ, of course, so check whether it suits you.

My friend and I stayed here before trekking up Mt. Apo with Mt Apo adventures, who arranged the booking. The staff really made the place lovely. We slept comfortably, the bathrooms were clean, and fresh bread and coffee made for an easy, slow morning on days we weren’t trekking. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, as well as laundry services, 7/11, and the mall. It had everything we needed.
