El Nido Viewdeck Cottages

The bed was comfortable, and the location is beautiful, but our stay at el nido viewdeck left us disappointed. We had a standard double room that was extremely small, with a bathroom only about two tiles big. The stairs weren’t an issue for us since we’re fit and had one of the lowest rooms. There was no hot water. Staff said the system runs on solar power and there hadn’t been sun during our stay, then shrugged it off as our problem. The panels are behind the building, which doesn’t seem ideal, especially in a place with six rainy months. We’d just come from Darocotan island, where there was no hot water, and were hoping for a hot shower. All rooms were full, so we couldn’t use another one. On our last day we heard from other guests that they’d had water problems too, including dirty water or no water at all. The pool was green, so don’t come expecting a swim. Our neighbours had birds, which was interesting. The hotel has potential and a lovely setting, and other rooms might be better. For us, the staff’s lack of concern and the equipment problems made it not worth it.

The room was cleaned and kept tidy each day, and the service was great. Breakfast has a lovely view and a good range of food. There are nice markets across the road, and The Grill beside the cottages is amazing. It’s around a 15-minute walk to El Nido beach. After a long day, the stairs can wear you out, and could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The bathroom also needs better ventilation, the water pressure was inconsistent, and there was no shower screen. Still, we loved our stay and would recommend it.

We had to extend our trip because of the typhoon, so we ended up with three separate Booking.com reservations and expected to switch rooms each time. They kindly let us stay in the same room for the whole visit. The staff also carried our luggage upstairs, which was fantastic. The views were amazing, and the pool looked spectacular, though we didn’t swim. Breakfast was okay, and I’d recommend the scrambled eggs.

Everyone on staff was so kind and ready to help. The pool has a nice view, and breakfast was good. Rooms are spacious and clean, with daily housekeeping and a balcony for enjoying the outdoors. The hotel sits up on a hill, so there are quite a few stairs to consider if mobility is a concern. It’s about a 10-minute walk into town.
