The social side of this hostel was good, and we enjoyed the food and drinks, but the room conditions and the way serious hygiene problems were handled made the stay upsetting. There was a strong sewage smell, construction was ongoing, and we wouldn’t recommend it. On our third night, staff told our group the room had bed bugs. One friend had about 25 bites. We found a Post-it on our beds around 5pm telling us to go to reception, where we got the news. Three other friends had already moved out earlier in the week because of strong paint fumes, with at least three rooms under construction. Two of us stayed, while the other three looked for somewhere else. Staff kept saying there were “loads of hostels” on the island, but didn’t help us find one, and even laughed when we said we were having trouble booking at the last minute. Two Airbnbs turned us down because it was late, so we had to pay for a much more expensive one. The hostel refunded the current night and the next two booked nights, but only at its lower “nightly rate,” much less than we’d paid. They washed our clothes for free in case there were bugs or eggs and offered each of us one free meal. Still, as girls travelling, we felt dismissed and small rather than supported. The friend with the worst bites was first promised a full refund, but ultimately got just one extra night refunded on top of the three nights the rest of us received. The two girls who stayed weren’t refunded and had to share a bed because there wasn’t enough space. The next morning they were moved due to overbooking into the same room our friends had left because of the paint fumes. That night they found wood mites in their beds. They reported it and left the room, then later came back to find someone else placed in the same infested bed, apparently without being told. When we raised it, staff seemed confused and suggested we might have mixed up the rooms.

Cam and Em were my favorites. Katie and Em made me feel like I was home with family on a cold Christmas morning, and Em helped when I lost my phone, saving me from the bad guys who stole it. Katie once rescued a kitten lost in the woods and took it to the local cat shelter. When I had stomach problems, she gave me laxatives and saved my life. The hostel vibe was unexplainably fantastic, the pool sparkled, and the food was exquisite and delectable. Camryn is hands down the best rep ever. The rooms were really nice, and ALEXANDER TOBY showed me mine. That cheeky little smile nearly made me faint. Ladies, watch out for that cute butterscotch ALEXANDER TOBY, what a hunk and hot eye candy. The bar team, rose, Alain, Edwin, and Jellica, worked with such mythological, preternatural finesse and ceremonial precision that I wondered if mortal hands could be behind it. Their service felt like an orchestrated ritual of excellence and mastery.

The hostel atmosphere was the best, and the boat party was awesome. The pool was sparkling clean too. Camryn, Katie, and Emily are the best reps in the world, just too good! And I can’t forget the legend Alexander Toby the 2nd. His cheeky little smile nearly melted me, and he made me feel so warm and welcome. Edwin and Jellica at the bar were legends and have perfected their craft.

We’re definitely coming back for a third time. It’s a great community, and the GE’s (Guest Experience) make sure everyone’s having fun. Thanks especially to Cameron, Keith, and Katelyn for making our stay so wonderful. The place is close to the go-to spots in siargao. They offer motorcycle rental, surfing, and island tours at reasonable prices, sometimes even cheaper than prices outside the hostel.

An easy place to meet people, with friendly staff and clean rooms and restrooms. I’d recommend it if you’re after a social spot to make friends. Jem and Nica were especially helpful.
