I hadn’t expected to find a beachfront getaway in Manalo, Puerto Princesa city, but Edie's Bahay Aplaya is just that. It’s a residential compound by the beach, with a two-storey concrete house and several rooms. There’s a swimming pool and parking space that can also be used for basketball. The facilities and outdoor areas suit group parties, excursions, company or family events, and in our case, a fairy-tale wedding.

The outside space was my favorite part: a clean pool, loungers, places to sit, and a billiards table beside a small outdoor bar. The beds were comfortable, and there’s lots of seating in the indoor lounge. Nice little extras include a hot and cold water dispenser and a karaoke machine. The house has a private beach section, and the whole setting feels great for a family break in Puerto Princesa. Some amenities could use an update. My main complaint was the capped internet. With more than a couple of people using it, pages wouldn’t load and streaming wasn’t possible. Still, it’s a lovely place to stay and I’d recommend it.

We had a really nice time at Edie’s Bahay Aplaya. The place is spacious, and we especially enjoyed the pool. It is a bit far from the city.

It’s a secluded spot beside the beach, with very friendly staff. Cleanliness wasn’t great, though, and it’s far from things to do. If you stay here, be ready to spend most of your time in isolation.
