Meaco Royal Hotel - Ilagan

The rooms were great, with clean beds, cable TV, and Wi-Fi. Everyone we dealt with was lovely, from the security guards and front desk staff to the maintenance and cleaning crew. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back or recommend the hotel.

The room was spacious and affordable, but the policies really bothered us. We checked in the night before for a business trip, and found there was just one pillow per bed, which wasn't comfortable. Then they tried to charge us ₱500 for throwing a cigarette box in the trash. They could have simply told us about a rule against smoking or littering cigarette boxes. Who would smoke in a room with a smoke sensor and in a building like that? There was also a fee for staining the bed. You go to a hotel to rest and relax, not to keep worrying about extra charges and rules.

The room was small but clean, and the reception staff were friendly. There were only two small, uncomfortable pillows on the bed, and when I asked at reception for two more, I was told they cost an extra 50 php each. The mattress wasn't comfortable either. Our room's main door card lock also didn't work properly, so the receptionist suggested changing rooms, which we did. Apart from those things, everything was okay.

The front desk staff in particular seemed inefficient, and most of the other staff did too. Their policy also makes little sense: if you add an extra bed, they still charge a fee for the extra person sleeping in it. Haha.
