GT Hotel Iloilo

This downtown spot in City Proper is my top pick when I'm in Iloilo City. The other 1 or 2 GT hotel locations in the city are very poor, but this one rocks for value. A room usually costs 1600p and feels furnished like one costing at least 3k. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere, too.

The hot and cold water worked perfectly, and I liked the modern look of the place. The room had a few small damaged spots, though, and we were surprised by how thin the bathroom mirror was. I also couldn't figure out why the light outside our window stayed on. I checked outside the hotel, and the only light still on was the one by our window. The people there were accommodating, and the location is handy, close to malls, other hotels, and schools. It worked well as an emergency stop and for my event, my nurse oath taking, which I attended with my sister. We enjoyed our stay a lot, even though I was a little disappointed in the room.

Everything in downtown was within walking distance, and Robinsons mall is the nearest landmark. I wasn't sure whether breakfast came with my room and didn't ask. Mine faced the street, and the Wi-Fi was okay for remote work. There was a kettle for hot water and 2 bottles of water, which you can refill at the lobby to save. I paid around 3.8k php for 3 nights during Dinagyang, so book early. It's downtown, with a 100php van to sm city and then a 13php jeep to downtown.

I paid more than €23 per night and expected a basic level of comfort and honesty, but I was disappointed. There was no hot water, which I find completely unacceptable at that price. The “king size bed” was really two small beds pushed together, which felt misleading. The walls were extremely thin, so conversations from neighboring rooms came through clearly and made it hard to rest or have privacy.
