Splendido Taal Country Club

We were there for a four-day training stay. The hotel’s atmosphere and the Taal view were undeniably good, and we appreciated the golf clubs, swimming pool, and function halls. But the food and service were severely disappointing. Staff, especially at reception, seemed unaccommodating and poorly coordinated, with inadequate training. Even when they smiled, the experience didn’t feel welcoming. The food quality was particularly bad, a negative 3 out of 10.

There are studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, as well as lots only. This seems like a good-value community to invest in around Tagaytay, with similar amenities to neighboring communities for less. There’s plenty of open space for walking and great views of the ridge and taal lake. If you’re considering buying here, take a short visit to see it for yourself. I’m reviewing only the beach and pool, not the hotel. We had a good family day out, and everyone enjoyed swimming and the beach, which was generally clean. The yellow sand looks good, though it doesn’t seem natural since Batangas has black sand. It reminded me of Dolomite Beach in Manila bay, but I’m not complaining. The water had moderate waves during our visit, which made swimming difficult for less experienced swimmers. The weather was good, and I think it’s worth a visit. One thing they could improve is food access: there are just a few options at the stalls, like Japanese rice meals, or the sit-down restaurant. Since outside food isn’t allowed, which I understand, a convenience store or vending machines with chips, soft drinks, and nuts would make it nicer to lounge on the beach.

The facilities are decent and well maintained, including function rooms, a swimming pool, gym, and basketball court. The food is nice, though not stellar, but the choices are very limited. I guess regular patrons don’t eat many vegetables here.
