2205 Suites

The neighborhood is residential and fairly quiet, and rooms at the back look out over the river. 2205 is also an easy walk from Pacific mall, with plenty of nearby restaurants, cafes, salons, and spas. It’s a good option if you need somewhere to stay in Lucena.

The bathroom really needs work. The shower sprays water everywhere, there’s barely any hot water, and the shower design leaves a grimy area along the side that seems hard for cleaners to reach. The old towels don’t leave you feeling dry, either. There’s also a wide gap around the balcony door, so insects can get inside. I slept terribly, despite the comfortable bed. The room itself was large, clean, and had a kitchenette where you could cook. Breakfast was brought to the room on time, but it tasted like it had been made hours earlier. We were given plastic cutlery, which made cutting bacon or fish difficult, and spreading butter with a spoon was almost comical. There’s no restaurant on site, and they ask you to order breakfast when you arrive. I may be judging it a little harshly, especially since there doesn’t seem to be much else around. If you only need a night in Lucena and have very low expectations, it might do.

The staff were courteous, friendly, and accommodating, and Pacific Mall is within walking distance. There’s a pleasant nature view, though the balcony is small and has no table or chair for sitting with a coffee. Breakfast was okay, but could be better. The room came with a mini fridge, microwave, heater, cabinet, toiletries including a disposable shaver and shaving cream, and disposable slippers. Four stars for now.

The river views were lovely, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and had plenty of air conditioning. The beds were comfortable, and I didn’t see any roaches. Honestly, this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in the Philippines, especially for the price.
