Ms. Riza Popera made us feel welcome, and the customer service was nice. I had a great time at Cabua-an Beach Resort in Camiguin. Our room was basic, with its own toilet and bath and air conditioning, but it was clean and comfortable. A good budget option for a group, I’d recommend it.

It’s a quiet spot, about a 20-minute walk from the center of town, with Wi-Fi to keep you connected. The resort is rustic and covers the basics for a comfortable stay. Our room had air conditioning, hot water, and beds that were comfortable enough for a decent night’s sleep. It’s a hot place to stay on Camiguin, though it’s far from a Hilton or Hyatt.

The room was old and smelled of cockroaches 😂. The grounds are spacious, with an ocean view, and the hotel is relatively cheap. I chose the breakfast option, which came with coffee and the usual Filipino choices: Dangit, hotdog silog, or corned beef silog. The manager is a woman and seemed good, though I’d heard a negative impression about her. There was a situation she could have handled better, and the customer service wasn’t that good 😔.

We got scammed by a travel agent named Jesica Igot Lagumbay, also known as Camiguin Vincent Travel and Tours on fb. I suspect this resort was involved in sabotaging her. The place is old, and it’s too far from the center of Mambajao, with no nearby store or restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The beachside setting is quiet and has a nice feel, though the cottages look a bit dated. They’ve added three new ones. We paid P1200 ($23) for one night, which is hard to beat. Breakfast was nice too, with hot sikwate, locally brewed cocoa, for P120. It’s just outside Balbagon, near the center of Mambajao, the capital of Camiguin.
