Northland Resort Hotel Manapla

The chicken inasal from the outdoor barbecue was excellent and well priced, and breakfast for five was included too, so it was great value. We stayed recently as a family and enjoyed it. Our room was large and comfortable, with a balcony, two air conditioners, a fridge, and a TV. The pool was okay, and the kids loved it.

The staff were helpful, but there was no internet or TV, and I wasn't given a reason to return. Some compensation, like a free breakfast, would have been appropriate.

The room upgrade from Junior room to Family room came with no extra charge, and the staff were very good, always smiling. The pool was clean, and parking was plentiful. Breakfast was free, though the selection was limited. There are food stalls inside the building and a 24/7 convenience store, although the property is outside the municipal center. The air conditioning needs more maintenance because ice forms in the radiator. Recommended for a family or a couple's getaway.

There are grills you can rent to cook your own food, and the seating groups have AC outlets for charging your phone. The pool, though, made me uncomfortable. Its water was cloudy and the walls felt slimy and slippery. It seemed to me like a chemical imbalance over a long period had let bacteria and algae form. I tasted the water briefly and thought the chlorine level was very low. There were bathrooms nearby, with five showers to wash off the nasty bacteria, but the one toilet hasn't flushed properly in years, so there's a bucket and dipper for flushing.
