We ended up at CoCo Star Hotel in Tambo, Parañaque because the nearby hotels were full. It wasn’t our first choice, but its location near the airport suited us. The room itself was clean, though the price was steep even after we booked online from the lobby because the desk quote was more than 50% higher than the online rates. Getting settled was frustrating. The receptionist seemed more interested in his phone than helping us. There was no Wi-Fi, and we were told the internet was down for the day. The new TV wasn’t connected to anything, its remote had no batteries, and neither did the air conditioner remote. When we asked about the connection and batteries, they questioned why we needed working remotes, since the TV only had Chinese channels anyway. The AC was very loud, smoke kept coming in from outside even with the door and window closed, and roosters were noisy too. We barely slept. The stay was a big disappointment, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel unless it makes major improvements.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport, but from the moment we arrived, we felt neither safe nor welcome. No one was there at first. After we called out, someone came over angrily, handed us a key and Wi-Fi password, and couldn’t speak English. The hotel is next to a slum, and the barbed wire all around wasn’t reassuring. Our room wouldn’t lock. The air conditioning was so loud that we couldn’t run it at night, leaving the room unbearably hot. There was no bottled water to drink, and the toilet leaked, leaving a puddle in the bathroom. Chickens and roosters made noise outside all night. It was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and ridiculously expensive for what it offered.

The toilet was filthy, cockroaches were crawling on the walls, and the room was dirty, stuffy, and smelly. I’d rather sleep at the airport than go into another room here.

For 180 yuan, the double bed came with a blanket. The place is good to live in, with a convenient location, a reasonable price, air conditioning, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Good.
