Lourdes Inn

I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just a clean, affordable place near the airport, and it suited my needs well. The hosts even made me a lovely snack in the late afternoon since my very early departure meant I’d miss breakfast. The modern split aircon was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. You can’t walk to places to explore or eat, but Grab cars are cheap and dependable.

We stayed here before and after our international flights, and it worked really well for both overnight stops. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with the airport close by. Breakfast on the roof terrace was very good too.

After the included breakfast, they invited us to sample traditional local food, which gave us a lovely glimpse of the culture. That generous welcome was a big part of what made the stay memorable. We’re grateful for their kindness and the hospitality they showed us.

Everything felt hurried and unwelcoming. We left early in the morning, rang the bell, and nobody came. At check-in, staff asked for a 1000pesos deposit per room, though this hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. They said the policy had only been decided three days earlier. We declined, but then had to listen to a long explanation about clogged toilets, poop and tissue, guests losing keys, no spare keys being available, and how expensive replacements are. The rooms had plenty of space, a table, a mini kitchen, and good wifi. The sink leaked, which could make it hard to sleep if you’re sensitive to noise. There were no hooks or hangers in the rooms or bathrooms. One room had no shower gel or shampoo, while the other did, and there was no drinking water.
