Hotel Sogo EDSA near Taft

We chose Sogo for convenience and a chance to rest, but the stay didn't work out that way. We asked for an extra hour because we had an early flight and needed more rest, and also requested a wake-up call. No call came, and we woke at 1:40 AM, too late to shower. I had set my own alarm for 1:45 AM, but the front desk still never called or told us if the extension was approved. Earlier, the assigned room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. A nearby room attendant said it wasn't normal and offered to spray, which we accepted, but the smell came back within minutes. We reported it at reception and were told they couldn't move us because the hotel was full, though we saw vacant rooms. The smell lingered on the bed linens and pillowcases, which was very unpleasant. Carlo, an HK staff member, was extremely helpful and got us transferred to a new room around 9:45 PM. We also had a sour-tasting burger with an unusual flavor while waiting. The staff apologized, replaced it, and gave us complimentary iced tea, which we appreciated. I understand staff may have been busy, but some service standards should always be maintained.

The hotel was affordable, very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. I had an excellent stay with very good service and great hospitality. So clean, so good! Highly recommended.

We were told our rooms were being prepared, but then waited an hour and a half. When we followed up, we got the same answer. The front desk was too slow and didn't prioritize customers. Really, making us wait an hour? Is this the service at the Hotel Sogo Taft branch?

I've checked in here many times and haven't had any problems or negative concerns. It's affordable, with clean rooms and good facilities and amenities. The customer service is good too. Recommended for a staycation.
