The Funny Lion Puerto Princesa

The Hunt restaurant did a very good breakfast and evening cocktails, though we found the lunch and dinner choices a little strange. What we did have for lunch was very good. We also ate at their C75 French / Vietnamese restaurant and really liked it, separate review. There's a lovely pool by the restaurant down towards the sea, though it's too shallow to swim in. They offer a boat ride to a sandbar where you can swim. The hotel is smart, minimalist, only a couple of years old, extremely clean, and well maintained. Reception greeted us warmly, and everyone was friendly and smiley. It's a little out of town, but staff can arrange a taxi or "tricycle" for very little cost. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely presented. There were patio doors, but no tables or chairs outside, and the ground opposite the terrace wasn't particularly attractive. Just a small issue. Big thanks to the lovely staff, especially RJ, who checked us in and looked after us so well. Thank you, Funny Lion team!

The staff made the stay feel easy from the start, keeping in touch and sending updates before we arrived. Once there, we loved our room, the food, and especially the cocktails. Service was impeccable from the front office through F&B, and there was plenty of choice to suit different tastes. The rooms are well designed with enough amenities, and those bandanas are awesome. It was a great place to stay in Puerto Princessa Palawan. We’ll try another The Funny Lion location in El Nido or Coron next time, and we’ll definitely be back. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

The gym was better equipped than most hotel gyms I’ve used, and breakfast had lots of healthy choices. The food was excellent, and everything looked brand new and was spotlessly clean. What really stood out, though, was how kind the staff were. They were always smiling and polite, and often surprised us with little gifts. At breakfast, I was having trouble with a mosquito, and a staff member brought me repellent lotion before I even asked. Five stars feels deserved, though it hardly covers the experience. I hope I can return one day.

The free activities, including the bicycle and kayak, were really fun, and the pool was lovely. We also ate very well. What I’ll remember most is how attentive everyone was: when we had an early breakfast at 6:15 am and mosquitoes were bothering us, staff brought repellent cream and kept checking in. They cared a lot about our comfort. This was an incredible stay, better than anything I’d experienced at other hotels, and I’ll have only great memories of the place.
