The neighborhood was fairly quiet, though the nearby church may wake you at 6AM. The retro rooms were nice. I booked on RedDoorz, but the room had no RedDoorz branding, which I didn't mind. There was a fridge, silverware, plates, and a sink, but I had to plug the fridge in myself for some reason. The only way to heat food in the room is a hot water kettle. You can rent a microwave from the front counter by the day. The bathroom had hot water, but only towels and hotel soap, so bring your own toiletries. There's an SM Supermarket not too far away if you forget anything. Take your usual tropical country precautions and you should be fine here. It's no more than a 10-minute walk to light rail and one of the city's many malls.
The water heater works well, and the unit itself is fine. It needs more attention to cleaning, though: the air conditioner filter should be cleaned, the floor is so shiny that it feels slippery, and the standing fan needs its support screws fixed. The center patio also smells like cat poop.
The windows looked out onto trees and plants, with birds chirping, which made quarantine feel peaceful. The room was spacious, the WiFi stayed stable while I worked, and it came with a TV, AC, fan, oven, water heater, toiletries, and kitchen utensils. Staff were hospitable and brought food right up to my room. I also bought mineral water from them since I hadn't had time to get any at the airport. I booked three nights here because it was the cheapest option, and I'd book again for a relaxing stay. It's in New Manila, near Tomas Morato and Mother Ignacia Street, where there are lots of restaurants.
Luci and her staff do a great job, and the 24-hour security guard helps make the stay feel safe. He'll even help flag down a taxi or trike. I've stayed at Broadway Court about 7-8 times when visiting the Philippines from the US, and it's the only place I stay. My Filipina wife and I like the area, and the grocery store is a short walk away. The rooms are quiet and clean, with new air conditioners and flat-screen TVs. They're fully furnished, including kitchens with everything needed to cook in Manila, and the price is very reasonable.
I've stayed here for the third time, and it's good value for the price. The place could use better maintenance: the sink in my unit was leaking. I let them know and they fixed it quickly. The staff are friendly.
