RedDoorz Premium @ West Avenue Quezon City

The location is convenient, close to McDonald's, and there is WiFi, but the place seemed poorly managed. The room had baby cockroaches, the air-conditioning and phones didn’t work, and both the bathroom and kitchen sink drains clogged easily. Someone had to open the drainage path by hand to get the water out. The receptionist was also acting as the bell person and handling every concern, while staying up all night. It felt as if the owner didn’t care, and there didn’t seem to be many bookings. Even an old-fashioned or high-tech setup is no excuse for not doing a good job. A hotel could be excellent if the people running it wanted that. I hope someone buys the place and gives everything a full makeover. We arrived at night and had a hard time finding it. The building was very dark, with no clear RedDoorz sign, entrance, guards, bell staff, or reception area. From the street, it looked like a closed restaurant. My friend and I had to use Google Maps and guess which building it was by its height, then walk around looking for the entrance. Reception was all the way at the back. Most of the staff and guards weren’t in uniform, seemed to be hanging around, and didn’t pay attention when people came in.

I checked out early and skipped the shower because the bathroom walls were dirty. There was no bath mat, and the free slippers only fit slim feet. Cockroach droppings were all over the food table and cabinets, and there were mosquitoes too. The small fridge dripped water inside and got the food wet. The kettle didn’t work either. Check-in was slow with just one person at reception, so the line got really long.

The staff at reception were very friendly on my first visit. Finding the main entrance was confusing, though. I also didn’t like seeing an extra bed and toiletries on the stairs. They should have proper storage for those.
