Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan

The breakfast was basic, mostly silog meals, bread, coffee, and fruit, but filling enough. We booked seven rooms and noticed a foul toilet smell in most of them, which really needs attention. Sotogrande Hotel Katipunan has elegant, well-kept interiors and a classy boutique feel. The staff were polite and attentive, and the Katipunan location is handy for events, meetings, and nearby schools. It’s comfortable and has a nice ambiance, though better bathroom maintenance would improve the stay.

I arrived early for check-in and was told there were no rooms, without anyone asking for my passport, name, confirmation, or reservation number. Yet a room was available for an extra charge. How could they know which room I’d booked? I stayed in the lobby until 2pm. I know a good scam when I see one! After the response: That reply is really dishonest. In 400 hotel nights, I’ve never checked in at a front desk where they didn’t first ask for my passport, name, or reservation number. The hotel wasn’t even busy. I sat in the cafe for five hours and saw very little traffic. I’d planned to stay two extra nights, but no thanks.

We had a good stay for our meeting in a neat, functional venue, though it could be made more comfortable. The staff were great and responded very quickly to our needs, but most items on the restaurant menu were unavailable.

We were there for a workshop, and the rooms were clean, with tidy, comfortable sheets. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, though. Based on the prices I saw online, I think the hotel is worth the cost. It’s lovely and only a few kilometers from AdMU, UP, and the town center.
