Sugar Beach House

Getting there is quite an adventure. From Sipalay it's a long tricycle ride, then a boat, then about a mile walking along the beach with your luggage. The beach had plastic pollution, and there are plenty of places to stay without that hassle and with better value. The one staff member provided excellent service. The place could be nice for a few days or more, but it's way overpriced for the facilities. Maybe the price should come down. I'd consider it if it were cheaper.

My family and I had a really relaxing stay, and the staff were so friendly. It's pet friendly, too, and my dogs loved the beach. The food was cheap. We even bought fish directly from the fishermen and had the staff cook it for us. We'll definitely come back.

Dishonest owner and a terrible place. Don't stay here! I stayed briefly in 2019 with my then girlfriend. Things were bad enough that we left halfway through what was meant to be a ten night stay, after just two nights. There was no water and no services while we were there. We asked for a refund, were promised one, but weren't refunded the right amount. When I complained to the owner directly, she threatened to have me assaulted in Bacolod. So I'm not taking down this bad review. Maybe keep better records.

The manager was a big help at check-in, and sorted out local beers and barbecue for us. Behind the resort are the local residents of Sugar Beach and a few sari sari stores. The place is simple and laid back, right on Sugar Beach, and we got a great tour of the area from a local kid. There's no TV, WiFi, or hot water, but I'd still stay again in a heartbeat for the wonderful Filipino hospitality.
