GV Hotel Sogod

The service wasn't the worst part, but it didn't make up for the rest. Our room had rats scurrying around, and even after we asked to move, the sight of them left a lasting bad impression. The toilet and bath were also notably small and dirty. The furnishings were badly worn, and the whole property seemed poorly maintained and in need of major refurbishment. The hotel felt dilapidated. My stay at GV Hotel Sogod was one to forget. The rats, dirty facilities, and general state of disrepair made this a very disappointing experience. I'd strongly suggest considering somewhere else, since it didn't meet even basic standards of comfort and cleanliness.

The bed was okay, and it's only three minutes from the bus terminal. I paid 850 php. By Western standards the place is run down. The room had no sound insulation, and the translucent blinds meant I got no more than 5-6 hours of sleep. There was about a 1.5 inch gap beneath my door. No soap, cold showers, stained walls and tiles, and tired sheets. The sink tap and toilet flush didn't work, and the water tap came off in my hand.

After an 18-hour journey, it was a relief to get an air-conditioned room and fall asleep. We were just stopping over on the way to San Francisco. I took a cold shower and crashed out. The TV didn't work.

It's better than sleeping on the sidewalk, but there are only stairs up to the fourth floor. No hot shower, and the air conditioning blew hot air. The corridor was cooler. The toilet is so small that even an Asian-sized person would have trouble using it, and there were lots of mosquitoes. They do have four parking spaces.
