Getting around is much easier if you have a car. There’s plenty of parking, but for commuters the location is inconvenient, and you have to rely on tricycles. Inside, the rooms are fairly spacious, simple, and nice, with clean toilets, though a few lights need replacing. Staff handled my requests well, even though I checked in late. Coffee is served outside the room, which may suit the hotel better than its guests, and I had to ask for everything I needed.

Compared with the Microtel locations in San Fernando and Baguio, the food provider here wasn’t as good. They’ve also removed the water heater from the room.

The staff were professional and the hotel was clean, which I appreciated. What surprised me was that complimentary bottled water is reserved for suite guests. A small bottle on arrival is a basic courtesy at many hotels locally and abroad, and it can make a real difference after traveling. I understand this may be management policy, but I hope Microtel Tarlac Management will reconsider and provide water to guests in every room type. I’d like to see that change on a future visit.

The staff were gracious and respectful, and the free plated breakfast was much better than we expected. We’d had a pricey, disappointing lunch the day before, so we weren’t expecting much. We stayed one night, and our room was okay apart from the shower. My husband tried it three times: only the last time was there hot water. I rushed in to use it, but it had gone again, then when I returned later it was hot. We paid good money for the room, and I don’t want the hot water to come and go like that. We also had to ask for slippers, dental kits, and toiletries before they were brought to us.
