Alona by Jpark Island Resort

The garden pool experience on our third day left us feeling discriminated against. We had been there by ourselves for a long time, but the fountain was only turned on and a lifeguard appeared after the Koreans came to use it. During our four days and three nights, our room was never made up, even though we put the sign on the door. We booked six rooms at Jpark through a travel agency because I wanted a beachfront hotel, but we were put on the garden side and had to walk to the beach. The room was spacious but old, and the bathroom gave us trouble throughout. The water pressure was low, the loose flush sometimes failed and had to be fixed twice, and bathing flooded the whole bathroom. We finally changed rooms on day three, but the water temperature there kept going on and off. Since it was already our third day, we didn't raise that issue. I thought the hotel had been newly renovated based on YouTube reviews. I guess only the beach side was updated, not the garden side. Don't be deceived.

Getting a beachfront suite at JPark Island Resort - Alona was a real plus. The food was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to reach both from the alley and from the beach. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The food itself wasn't too bad, but the way the menu worked felt really unfair. We paid the same food and alcohol package price as everyone else, then found out during the Stars and Sparkles event on NYE that the choices depended on where you were seated. Half the menu wasn't available on the rooftop Terrace. The attached image shows what was missing in red. Service was very slow, too. We were told it was table service, but hardly anyone came over. I'm not sure I'd eat here again, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I hope management responds.

We had the lechon kawali and gambas while waiting for the sunset, and enjoyed both. Kanz looked after us with real thoughtfulness, anticipating what we needed without having to be asked. He was polite and attentive, and even entertained us with his beatbox talent. We only ordered à la carte at the restaurant, but his service made the meal special.
