Gilgit Gateway Hotel

The terrace and private hot water tanks in the bathrooms were nice touches, and the prices seemed fair, from about Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 12,000. My room was roomy, the hallway smelled fresh, and the staff carried my bags and had the AC on before I arrived. They were waiting for me and very friendly. I was heading to Hunza, but chose to stop in Gilgit rather than drive another two hours after dark. I found Gilgit Gateway Hotel on Google and called. Murtaza bhai answered and was so welcoming that I booked without looking elsewhere. He was a few hours away but had told the staff I was coming. Valet parking was handy too. I had a really pleasant stay, and would recommend the place in Gilgit. Thanks to Murtaza bhai and his team.

The comforters were wonderfully cozy, and I slept well on a cold night. The staff tried hard to help and were cooperative whenever we needed them. I was there only one night, so I can't say much about the area. The rooms are good, and filtered water is provided by the bedside. There were some problems, though. The AC didn't work properly, and in winter the room got too cold. Hot water was an issue too, though they fixed that later. They should check everything before assigning a room so guests don't have to call about the AC or hot water. It would also help to add a qibla sign for prayer, and a note in each room showing the floor's Wi-Fi network and password.

I stayed one night and was disappointed by what I found compared with the hotel's overview. There was no electricity, AC, free breakfast, or hot water. In that cold weather, hot water is a must. The pillows and sheets weren't clean either. If you need those facilities, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
