Alpha Hotel and Restaurant

The rooms were poorly maintained, and the amenities were unreliable, so the stay itself was below par. What made it worse was the way the staff treated guests: they were abusive and discourteous. Extra fees that hadn’t been disclosed showed up on the bill, and asking about them brought a hostile response. The hotel also imposed charges I felt were unjust. I can’t recommend it.

I wouldn’t recommend alpha hotel. We had no reliable water or electricity during our four-day stay, and on the last day Shahid, the owner, inspected the room as we were leaving. He lifted the single bed mattress, said the wooden sheet underneath was damaged, and demanded that we pay for it, though it was already broken. They fined me 10k for that sheet, spoke to me badly, and threatened to call the police if I didn’t pay. You can see in the photo that the wooden sheets were stuck like that.

There was no wifi, electricity, generator, or water, so we were left without basic modern comforts. The person in control of the hotel, Shahid, was rude and disrespectful and used abusive language, including “ganda anda.” He cut the water to our rooms and made things difficult in other ways: we had to get room service ourselves and weren’t allowed to take food into the room. The meals were expensive and mostly poor. The food was tasteless and undercooked, with two kababs costing 1350rs; breakfast meant nearly raw omelettes and cold prhathay chanay. They charged 190rs on the bill for chai from “quetta chai,” even though we’d been told it cost 90rs. A bad stay, and I hope other visitors to skardu choose carefully.

The management team made our three-day stay with friends really enjoyable. They were friendly and cooperative, and helped us arrange rentals, food, and camping. Loved staying here and would visit again.
