Hostel & Restauracja Santorini

The room itself was in terrible condition for what we paid: missing towel hooks and a bin bag in the bathroom, old yellowish towels that smelled, no hot water at the tap, missing light bulbs and a socket, cracked paint coming off the ceiling, and MOULD above the beds. We were left disappointed by what felt like a traumatizing experience. There were three of us, travelling from another country, and unfortunate circumstances meant we reached the city after 10 pm. This was the only place that answered the phone. The hostel seemed nearly empty, with no lights on in the rooms, just one car in the parking lot, and nobody around. We could see several rooms listed on Booking.com. The receptionist realized we weren’t local and started speaking in a mix of Polish and Russian, which felt strange and disrespectful since we could understand and speak with her in Polish. She claimed the largest, most expensive room was the only one left, a room with five single bunk beds for 300 zł, about €65, which we didn’t need for three people. A suitable room at this hostel showed as available on Booking.com for around €45, already more than other hotels, but she denied there were other rooms and said other clients would arrive later. They never did. She raised her voice and warned us aggressively that if we didn’t take that room, we might have to sleep outside because it was late and nowhere else would take us. We’d been about ten minutes too late to book one of the nearby tidy apartments with a double bed and sofa for three or four people, priced at €30-35, so we ended up here. We don’t recommend this place to anyone who has even a little self-respect.
