The staff were accommodating, and the place is still quite nice, though it feels a bit tired. It seems like it must once have been something. I gave it three stars, nearly two, but decided to be generous. A place advertising itself as a palace and spa should clearly tell guests up front that the pool and gym are open to the general public. If you’re paying almost 400 a night at minimum and want a swim, be prepared to share the pool with anyone walking in off the street. That’s not okay. “Public gym and spa” would be a more fitting name. You can sleep here too, if you want.

The pool and gym were nice, and the restaurant was good. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, and although they look a little dated and show some wear, they were clean. The staff were very friendly. It’s fairly close to the city centre and right by a bus stop. Since it’s a very old building, some rooms take several flights of stairs to reach. If mobility is an issue, the staff can suggest a suitable room when you book. The price felt well worth it.

It worked perfectly for a wedding, and the place itself is really great. The pool and jacuzzi were nice, and all the meals, including breakfast, were exceptional. Just two things bothered me: there were no curtains, so the sun was in my face at 6 am, which isn’t great if you want to sleep in. There was also no air conditioning. June was manageable, but I don’t know how you’d sleep through really hot days without melting. Everything else was super cool.

It’s a nice building, but it isn’t maintained well. Most of the staff seem to be students. I support that, but not at this hotel level. The eggs were always undercooked, and breakfast wasn’t ready from 7 AM as advertised.

The food was phenomenal, but the waiter kept forgetting about us and could barely speak English. I canceled two cheeses from my order, but he brought them anyway. He couldn’t keep track of seven meals for six people. They need better management and better drink prices.
