Hotel Sukiennice

The location is excellent, but the stay didn’t meet my expectations. The bedding was nice and clean; the bathroom, though, was old and worn. I wasn’t sure it had been cleaned thoroughly, and the shower tray was filthy.

The rooms were okay, and the location is the main plus, close to the center and other places. There was no service and nobody at reception. Instead of a kettle in the room, there was a strange water dispenser in the hall. The worst part was the really awful, unusual smell in the hallway. I don’t know what they use to clean, but they should change it. I can’t recommend the hotel.

For a short stay of one or two nights, this place is worth considering. It’s in the town center, warm, and clean, and you can tell the owner puts a lot of effort into it. Bedding, towels, a TV, plenty of information about the region, and a modest breakfast are available, with breakfast as an extra option. The big drawbacks were the broken elevator and bathrooms that need renovating.

I’m really disappointed, especially after staying at other hotels. The building is quite tall, and we only found out on arrival that the elevator was out of order, despite booking more than a week ahead. The relaxation room lights couldn’t be switched on, and the guest basket had rotten, bruised apples, despite being a nice gesture. There was no hairdryer or water in the room. I arrived at midnight and didn’t look through the desk folder, where I later learned there was a dispenser. From 7:30 to 7:45 there was nobody at reception, and the phone went unanswered. I hadn’t realized breakfast might not be included. There was no breakfast in the room, though Oani brought breakfast bags to the door. I missed out because I “didn’t check that box when booking.” I’ll check my reservation again today because I don’t remember having an option to book with or without breakfast. Compared to other hotels, I’d rate this one a third star at best, maybe even a second. It falls well below the standard.
