The room listing says small dogs are allowed, but once the reservation was paid for, the company said that wasn’t an option and refused to return the money. That feels like a typical scam. I’ve been waiting nearly a month for my refund, and I’ll probably have to go to the police. It’s tough, but if this is how they operate, I don’t see another choice. I don’t recommend this operator. Be extremely careful when paying and booking, because what the description says is completely untrue.

The balcony looks out over the sea, and there’s private access straight to the beach, which are real advantages. But the apartment itself was a letdown. There’s just one set of plates and cutlery for four, so we had to run the dishwasher after every meal. The sofa bed was flimsy and creaked whenever anyone moved, and the layout was awkward: a chair blocks the fridge, and the entrance and bathroom doors bump into each other. The bigger issue was the electrical box on the terrace. Wires stick out, it gets wet in the rain, and the power trips. We had to call maintenance to reconnect it at the distribution board. Turning on the Wi-Fi caused the same problem, so we had no Wi-Fi or Netflix for the whole stay. There’s a washing machine connected in the apartment, but no machine to use, which made things difficult with children. It’s trying to pass as luxury, but the quality falls short.

The private beach access was a real plus, but the rest of our stay at Gardenia was frustrating. The website mentions nearby construction, but it’s right behind the fence. There was noise from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., workers partied late after that, and work continued on Saturdays. The main view is of the construction site. The bed was awful, just a 5 cm foam mattress where you could feel every board underneath. I’d have slept better on the floor. The coffee machine clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the coffee smelled like fish. The TV had five channels, none with a full terrestrial TV package. We also got wrong directions to the apartment. “To the right of the entrance” only works if you’ve already used the garage. But to get into the garage, you need keys that are in the apartment. I’d used Sun and Snow before without complaints, so this was a disappointing stay.
