UPDATE 2026 The bar is pleasant, and the regular events are a plus. The food is acceptable, but it gets repetitive on a longer stay, and dessert choices are limited. The luxury rooms upstairs are comfortable and well equipped, though they lack a proper desk. The refrigerator is so noisy that we had to turn it off at night to sleep. Downstairs, the hallway often smells of dogs and dog food. We love dogs ourselves, but as guests without one, we really wouldn’t want to be put in one of those rooms. I have to say, dogs don’t really belong in hotels. After a previous stay a year earlier, reception had told us that people staying longer or returning regularly might get a discount on the very expensive parking. My wife politely asked the hotel director about it, but her reply was extremely rude. She said that since we booked through Booking.com and had a Genius discount, we weren’t considered “their” guests and absolutely weren’t entitled to a parking discount. It was as if people booking through Booking.com weren’t guests. In all my years travelling with Booking.com, I’ve never heard anything like that, and the way she said it was quite inappropriate. We also had confusion over the invoice at checkout. At first they said they couldn’t give us an invoice or proof of payment because Booking.com had processed the payment and the hotel hadn’t received the funds yet. They also said they didn’t have our contact details and any issues had to be resolved through Booking.com. After some discussion, the hotel did manage to provide an invoice, but it caused needless confusion at checkout. On longer stays, the rooms aren’t cleaned properly, apparently because of cost cutting and lack of staff. We put a “please clean the room” card on the door handle and nothing happened. My experience is exactly the same as in my review from last year. It’s disappointing to run into these issues, especially when staying for a second time for a week or more.

The grounds looked well cared for, and the pool was nice. Everything else was fine too, clean enough and with reasonably nice people, aside from the kitchen. The price was decent, if I remember right. We stayed here about 10 years ago and it was fantastic, but our trip in Aug 21 was terrible because the food was such a huge letdown. They put sliced olives in the scrambled eggs, among other things. The juice was insanely sweet, like they’d badly messed up making it. I tried to tell them it could be dangerous for diabetics, but they didn’t care. I used to be a chef, so I know the red flags and how things should be. I hope they’ve improved since then. If we ever return, we’ll book room only. If the price and location work for you, go ahead and book, just skip their food. There are lots of great little places to eat around, like Valter Stridi Vesuvio II for pizza. It’s a four-minute walk from Akses, and honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had.

We love visiting this very nice spa hotel in winter. The little town is quiet in the off season, and breathing in the fresh sea air is lovely.

Such a lovely place to unwind, with a great atmosphere, food, facilities, and staff.
