The breakfasts were easily the best part of our stay. We ate there all three mornings and really enjoyed them, so I don’t understand the complaints about the food. The breakfast staff were kind, too. The rest of the experience was a struggle, especially for the price. We barely slept during the first two nights of our three-night visit. Noise came through clearly from the street and other guests, and there was no soundproofing. If you’re a light sleeper, this place is a poor fit. The bed and pillow were very basic and need replacing, and the room smelled strongly of chlorine when we arrived. This converted Airbnb is listed as a “2-star hotel” on Google Maps, which I wouldn’t rely on. Getting in was difficult. We arrived at 7:40 pm to find nobody there to check us in and no instructions. I had already messaged to say when we’d arrive, but got no reply, so we had to call for help. I can’t imagine how someone without phone access would manage. The owner/manager was also unresponsive when we raised problems. The shower faucet was broken and had to be held in place to use. The guests next door kept their door open and talked and laughed loudly after midnight, then again very early in the morning. I told the owner, but he didn’t answer my messages. When I asked about a refund for the third night so we could stay elsewhere, I expected a more considerate response and had to call again before he replied. These problems affected our trip to Gdansk. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want peace and quiet or a comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent, though, and I appreciated the breakfast staff’s effort.
