Hotel Port 110

The room was simple but clean, comfortable, and had enough equipment. Reception was friendly and helpful, explaining everything clearly, including bike and kayak rental. Using both was included in the hotel rate. The hotel sits right by the lake, within easy reach of town attractions, the shopping centre, and walking trails. The restaurant is very good, but it seemed busy, so I'd book a table ahead of time, especially if you want to sit outside.

The breakfast was the one good part. For a premium room, it wasn't worth the price. There was no air conditioning, it smelled bad when we walked in, and the shower handle was leaking and poorly fitted. We also didn't get any extra pillows or blankets.

The food was tasty, which makes it all the more frustrating that the service overshadowed it. On our first visit to Port 110 Restaurant, just for beers with friends, it took far too long for the drinks to arrive even though there were plenty of servers. We let it go and carried on with our evening. The second visit was much worse. We ordered wine, a whisky sour, three starters, and three mains. Two mains came, but the server had forgotten to order the third, and by the time I checked after a long wait, the kitchen had closed. She offered tea or coffee instead and said the missing dish would be taken off the bill, which hardly seemed like a fair substitute for a whole meal. We asked to speak to the manager, but they didn't appear to address our concerns. In the end, we had to ask for the whisky sour to be removed from the bill as a small resolution. We appreciated that gesture, but it didn't make up for the repeated mistakes and disregard. Service was unacceptable on both visits, and the second was worse than the first. I can't recommend the restaurant in good conscience. I hope management takes this seriously and improves the service, because customers deserve better.

A modest, understated hotel that offers excellent quality and value for its star rating. It's a must visit, and I'll keep coming back.
