The decor has a lovely old-time feel, and I got lucky with an empty restaurant and no long wait for food. I've visited Karpacz dozens of times, but only came here for the first time today. I fell for the flavors. Right now, this is my favorite restaurant in Karpacz. Highly recommend it!

The location is decent, parking is free, and breakfast was good, but the stay left me disappointed in several ways. The building and lobby gave me the impression of a mountain-style place, yet the room felt bare and had no pictures on the walls. The TV was mounted too high to watch comfortably. We had no kettle for tea or coffee, either. The room was cold for two days, despite it being -7°C outside and the thermostats in both the room and bathroom being set to zero. Asking for more heat didn't help, and no one came to check the temperature. That's unacceptable. In winter or a snowy spring, be aware that the road up is steep and could be difficult for inexperienced drivers. Breakfast had problems too. The scrambled eggs were watery, there were no refills, and there was no option to take a snack pack into the mountains or bring breakfast away. If one restaurant closed early, the same dishes weren't available at the other, which seemed odd. I can't really comment on the staff, as they mostly seemed to just be there. The location has its good points, but these issues let me down.

The rooms are quite spacious, and the hotel is nice, with tasty food in its restaurant. I would recommend it, though with a few reservations. There was no bottled water in the room, which I'd expect at a hotel of this quality, and the restaurant shuts at 8 p.m. For me, that's a drawback. Four out of five.

A comfy, warm place to sit with a hot chocolate and cake. There's lots of room, and the staff are friendly. The cake selection is small, though. The hot chocolate is amazing, you have to try it.

This place presents itself as luxurious, but the service and upkeep were at a very low level. I've spent 22 years working in hotels from 2-star to 5-star around the world, so I can't help comparing. It feels as if the current management has let things slide. The building is beautifully refurbished, with grand interiors, and the hillside location is nice. Staff can be helpful, but a lot of things are falling apart. In our room, some bulbs didn't work, plugs were coming out of the walls, part of the shower had fallen off, curtain hooks had pulled out, and the wardrobe door was hard to slide shut. On Saturday, when the hotel was full, there weren't enough towels. Half the spa equipment wasn't working properly. The free spa access didn't stop us having to pay to hire bathrobes, which had huge holes in them. There were no slippers, and we couldn't find any to buy locally. Reception said the hotel was only two-star, though online it was advertised as three-star. The receptionist wasn't very welcoming or helpful. Whenever guests wanted to ask something, she was busy on the phone or computer and left them waiting. A smile or greeting seemed too much to ask. The restaurant has impressive, spacious rooms, but the food choice and quality were poor and basic. On the first day, two of the six chef's specials weren't available, no duck or steaks. I asked for table seasoning and got an empty pepper shaker. My chair fell apart during dinner, and the waiter apologized, saying it was very old. The next evening I chose the buffet, but tomato soup, penne bolognese, and fish and chips weren't what I wanted on holiday. Bad luck for me. Breakfast was a mess: no eggs on the buffet on day one, then a five-minute wait for more. On day two the eggs ran out again; the refill disappeared in a minute, and my wife waited another five minutes for the next one. That shouldn't happen in any hotel. The kids might have liked yogurt with cereal, but there was only cold milk, two basic kinds of cornflakes, seeds, and almonds. No porridge, and no orange juice, just apple juice and still tap water. On day three the breakfast buffet ran out again, with the usual wait for a refill. At least there was yogurt that day. Dinner was a disaster. The duck was badly overcooked and the gravy terribly salty. My wife's penne with spinach had far too much of a green, sticky paste, which looked disgusting and tasted too strong. Chef, fewer flower leaves and a better balance of flavors, with less overcooking of meat and fish, would be a big improvement. The oldest male waiter was very professional and attentive, but most of the younger staff, especially the female waitress, seemed untrained, inattentive, and sometimes impolite or rude. Often nobody came into the restaurant for 15-20 minutes, and we and other guests were left without service. In room NO.108 the shower temperature kept swinging between boiling hot and shockingly cold. It was annoying and dangerous for our children. The soft play area for kids in the restaurant was very dirty, probably never cleaned, and falling apart. There was also unfinished building work on the main stairwell extension, with temporary polystyrene boards and expanding foam.
