Hornigold w Zielonej Kamienicy

I was surprised to find an iron and ironing board in the room. It was quiet, and there was a place to park the car inside. The hotel is right in central Katowice, about 400-500m from the main street, "Dworcowa". The staff were very nice and kind. Thank you!

We stayed for three nights at the end of Jan 2025. Our attic room was spacious, with a great shower, fridge, kitchenette and double bed, and it was cleaned every day. Breakfast was continental, with cereals, cheese and meats. Reception were very helpful when we checked in. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the train station, across the tracks from the main square and similar spots, though there are cafes and restaurants nearby. I'd stay here again if I return to Katowice.

The building felt grand and historic, and there was an elevator, but our room didn't have that same feel. We booked the last room available for a one-night stay, so maybe we got the worst one. It was meant to have two twins or a queen, but instead had one tiny double, which they called a European Queen, and one twin. We couldn't push them together, so we squeezed into the double. We're both pretty slim, and it was still uncomfortable. It was an ADA-accessible room, which wasn't an ideal layout for people who didn't need assistance. I also noticed there was no mini fridge or AC, though we didn't need either. The receptionist was friendly, but there was nobody around when we checked out at 8 am. We didn't pay extra for breakfast, but the dining room looked lovely. Street parking was free overnight until 8 am. Decent enough for one night.

The breakfast room was family friendly, with a play corner, and the buffet had homemade cakes each day along with traditional Polish salads. The staff were accommodating, and the rooms had a lovely neoclassical look, with high ceilings and big windows. They stayed very warm even with snow outside. I was pleasantly surprised by the service, especially since this is an apartment place rather than a hotel. The location is very convenient. We'll choose it again next time we're in Katowice.
