Wiatrakowo

We spent our Christmas break in the “Pustelnia” cottage, and Wiatrakowo was a real gem. It’s far enough from town to avoid the crowds but close enough to walk there. The property has several beautiful huts with original furnishings that make staying here a real experience. You can order meals on site, and I really, truly recommend doing so. The food was incredible, better than any other restaurant in Kazimierz that we tried, and there was no queue. We’ll definitely come back whenever we’re in Poland. We’ll try to visit in the off season, since the town gets crazy busy in summer, as we got a taste of on the second day of Christmas when the weather was nice. You may need to book far ahead because the property usually fills up, for good reason. And be sure to try their homemade liqueurs. They’re divine :-)

We had a fantastic time in these rustic cabins, set among gardens, orchids, and woods. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, well worth a visit.

It was filthy and smelled bad. I had to clear spiderwebs as I made my way upstairs, and the place felt like staying in Skansen in Olsztynek. It looked nothing like the pictures, which was very disappointing 👎 I lost my bond because we couldn’t stay there with our 4yo child. The stairs were very steep, and there was no safety gate, even though I’d specified that we were bringing a small child. The manager suggested I was probably looking for a 4-star hotel. I wasn’t. I just wanted somewhere clean and safe.

I lasted about 30 minutes before leaving. In just three minutes I got bitten more than ten times. If you want mosquitoes for dinner, this is the place for you. It's a mosquito paradise.
