Aparthotel Grodzka 21

The location couldn't be much better, right in the heart of everything. The rooms are clean, simple, and well appointed. We'd heard it might be noisy, but there was only the occasional bit of noise and nothing concerning. WiFi was hit and miss, though we didn't mind much. Brilliant place to stay, fully recommend.

We paid an affordable price for a prime spot to get around Krakow, and the tram noise wasn't too bad or much of a disturbance at night. The beds were very comfortable, and even though I slept in a single, I slept well. We still enjoyed our stay. There were several things I wish we'd known before booking. Our family apartment was on the third floor, a big climb each time we went out, which was difficult with a child who has limited mobility. With single beds, there was nowhere to sit unless we made up the sofa bed every day. Storage was scarce, just four wardrobe hangers, so we lived out of our suitcases. The TV didn't work and the internet was almost nonexistent. The rooms weren't cleaned during our stay; by the time we realized we had to ask, it was day four and we were about to leave. The room also needed a deep clean, especially behind the beds, and there was limescale on the shower head and mould in the shower cubicle.

Breakfast was a nice choice of cooked or continental options, but you have to leave the aparthotel and go around the corner to its sister hotel for it. That's also where you check in. Our room was comfortable enough and clean, with the usual hairdryer, TV, and fridge. Housekeeping only came in when requested. The old town location is great, a couple of minutes from the main square and on the same street as the castle. There are lots of stairs and no lift. On the third floor, our window was missing a blind, so we hung the bed runner there. The high windows had no covering either, which made the room bright, but with sunrise at 6 am we woke early every day.

The apartment is right in the middle of the action, ideally placed for the Christmas market, yet quiet and well maintained. I have a disability, and getting up five flights of stairs was tough, but just about manageable if I took my time.
