Booking Hotel & Spa

The hotel was immaculate, and the young team gave very good service with a smile. They were happy to help with anything. It's in a beautiful, peaceful setting, with lots of free parking, which worked well for our campervan. The gym and sauna were unfortunately closed during our visit. USB charging ports in the bedroom would have been a nice addition.

The gardens were the one good thing. I was here for work, otherwise I would have asked for my money back. The rooms felt old, the service was bad, and there was no laundry service, pool, spa, or gym. The bar didn't even have a working espresso machine. At 11:30 am there was nobody available to make coffee, and no one was at the desk overnight. On the second day my room card stopped working, and for a while I thought I'd have to sleep in the lobby. Don't be fooled by a five-star label or an appealing price.

I stayed at the end of May 2025 and got a very good price. It's a bit out from the center, but getting there by Bolt was easy. I wouldn't call it a true five-star hotel, though I didn't have any particular issues with the service.

The garden was beautiful and well kept, and our family room was clean, well ventilated, and a comfortable temperature. It was spacious, with a separate bedroom, which worked well with our 2.5-year-old going to bed early. Breakfast was decent, though more variety would have been nice. The staff were helpful, the price was reasonable, and the location meant about 20 minutes by car to the center and 15 to the airport. There were some downsides. The hotel seems past its prime, with worn areas and window blinds that didn't work properly. The spa was closed, with no sign of it reopening soon. Ventilation rattled at night and affected our sleep, so earplugs may help. Although it advertises itself as family-friendly and has good family rooms, there were no high chairs in the breakfast area, no child toilet seat adapter in the room, and no playground or indoor play area. The very young staff seemed to suggest either low pay or high turnover, perhaps pointing to management issues. We had a pleasant stay and felt it was good value. We weren't expecting luxury, but anyone looking for a five-star experience may be disappointed, as those days seem to be behind the hotel.
