Hotel Grottger Boutique Hotel

It was warm and clean, but calling this place luxury is pushing it. The staff weren't friendly, except for the man who met us when we came back on New Year's Day. Breakfast that day was a joke, with stale rolls and missing items, and the room is far too small for the number of guests.

The staff were warm and helpful, and it made this a lovely place to stay while exploring Krakow for a few days.

The hotel is just a short distance from the heart of Cracow, and I’d happily recommend it. The owner clearly puts a lot of care into the place, and she and the other staff were friendly, chatty, and made the atmosphere feel special. We had a comfortable room with a minibar that was topped up each day. Breakfast was lovely too, especially the cute heart-shaped pancakes.

The location was a real drawback for our short stay. It was about a 20-minute walk to central old Krakow, despite how the hotel was described when I booked, and knowing that, I would have picked somewhere else. I think there are better and cheaper choices inside the old town. The hotel itself was fine but nothing special. We were asked to pay almost the full original price again to upgrade after adding another person, even though the room wasn't much bigger or nicer than a standard one. The TV didn't work at first, and although the friendly staff took some time to fix it, they could only get a couple of Polish channels, so we gave up on watching it. Breakfast was acceptable, though not the best, and there were no water bottles available to buy or provided in the room, so we were thirsty. On the plus side, the staff were attentive and friendly, offered recommendations, and helped place food orders from a good menu. You could pay by credit card when the food arrived, and the room was clean.
