Lorf Hostel&Apartments

We got a calm, cool room through the April heatwave, and everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were attentive and quick to respond when we booked at the last minute. It seemed like the owners cared about the place and had added colour and character, instead of leaving it as a plain white room. Good value, too.

The room was spacious and nice, but it had a pretty musty smell. It was about 3°C outside, and the room felt freezing. When I asked management about the heat, they said, "Yhe building's administrator turned off the heating back in mid-April, as the heating season ended." I think residents would need heat when it’s 3°.

This hostel felt creepy. There’s no reception, but they take photos of you on security cameras. The sheets and pillows had stains, which made us really uncomfortable. We felt watched and wondered if there were cameras in our room. Somehow they knew we’d left without telling them and texted that they “noticed that we weren’t in the room”. How could they know we had gone?

The owner was really friendly, helpful, and even gave us discount cards for a museum. The hostel itself was comfortable and nice, though the hot water could take a while to heat up when lots of people showered, so some guests might get a cold shower. We think the sheets may not have been washed thoroughly. My friend and I shared a bed and both got bitten by bed bugs after our stay, while our two friends in separate beds in the same room had no such problem. Owner, please be aware.
