Pillows Party Hostel

The bathrooms and kitchen were kept clean, and the staff were very kind and helpful. There’s no elevator, so getting up two floors may be difficult for some. I also found it odd that they didn’t give me a room key, saying the doors weren’t locked. My room was right across from the main entrance, out of sight of reception, so pretty much anyone could come in.

I booked this because it was literally the only place available. It was a long weekend with festivals in Krakow, so apparently everyone from Poland was there. The entrance isn’t obvious, though that wasn’t really an issue. This felt like a hostel for 20 to 22 year olds who want to party and don’t care where they sleep. People were screaming all night, and the door wasn’t locked, so anyone could enter. Luckily there was a locker under the bed, but you need your own lock or can rent one at the front desk. People write on the doors, which adds to the dirty feel. There are only three bathrooms and showers for around nine rooms, with about six beds in each, so they’re busy nearly all the time, even in the middle of the night. They could use a deep clean too, since there was mold and dust. I arrived around 1am and had a tour the next day, so I left at 7am. In those few hours, someone stole all the food I’d bought for the excursion. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I wouldn’t recommend it unless it’s a complete emergency.

The location is excellent, but that’s the only good thing. The room was too small, the bed was awful, and the mattress felt like a pillow rather than a proper mattress. The toilets were dirty, with vomit on the floor and toilet. Wi-Fi was weak, and it was far too expensive for what you get.

It’s not very far from the old town, and there are some board games and a hair dryer. They don’t really organize the events they say they have, though. You might meet nice people, if you’re lucky.
