Plus Hotel

The noise made it hard to sleep: the walls let through conversations from the next room, doors kept slamming, and traffic roared outside. The pool was shut for maintenance and looked as if it hadn’t been used in years. The so-called fitness center was a stuffy little room with a few rickety machines that looked decades old. Breakfast was a sad spread of stale pastries, watery coffee, and fruit that seemed forgotten in the fridge for a month. The room was disgusting. It smelled of mold and stale cigarettes despite being marked non-smoking. The carpet had a stain I didn’t want to think about, the sheets looked unwashed, and I found someone else’s hair on them and the pillowcases. The bathroom was filthy, with mold in the shower and dirt everywhere. The thin, rough towels smelled used. Check-in was slow, chaotic, and full of errors. The receptionists seemed to take their frustrations out on guests, and couldn’t even get my name right with the reservation in front of them. When I called the front desk about the room, they brushed me off and acted like I was the problem for expecting basic cleanliness and working facilities. The manager was completely incompetent and wouldn’t offer compensation or even apologize. My stay at PlusHotel was one of the most disgusting experiences I’ve had. It’s a disgrace to the hotel business, a place I’d tell people to avoid. I’d never return, and it shouldn’t be operating as a hotel.

I canceled the stay because I felt the customer was being disrespected, misled, and strung along. The price was supposed to be affordable. Two days before, I called a pleasant man to ask about rooms. He said a small one was available at a good price, so I asked him to reserve it, gave my email, and was told I’d get confirmation. After a day with no word, I called to follow up. He then said that room was no longer available and admitted he’d forgotten, but offered a more expensive one. I agreed and was promised confirmation within an hour. Nothing arrived, so after two and a half hours I called again. He’d forgotten once more. A little later I got a text saying he had an even more expensive room than the one we’d agreed on.

The owner was friendly and polite, always smiling and kind to the kids. The place was quite cheap for Krakow, though it didn’t really feel like a hotel. Our room was small, and the beds were very comfortable, but the bathroom was disappointing, with mold on the ceiling and an unclean toilet bowl.

I can confirm the bathroom mold was unpleasant, and the toilet light only stays on for a minute before you have to move to make it come on again. The hot water seems to depend on the hotel staff’s mood. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, the cups and plates were unwashed, and it was hard to tell whether the bedding had been washed or aired. There were someone’s dirty panties under the mattress, as if nobody takes the sheets off. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, and advise people to think carefully. I think the positive reviews may have been written by a staff member to counter the negative ones, which are true.
