The room was very loud at night, and the cleaning standard was poor: a half-used toilet roll had a mark on the side, there was hair in the kettle, the shower gel dispenser was empty or broken, and the shower head leaked in about three places. The room setup was very minimal. Breakfast was decent, and communication with reception was okay.

The staff were lovely, and both the food and service were excellent. Our room was clean, though dated. The location was a big issue for us as tourists: it’s in an industrial area away from central Krakow, so we ended up using Ubers every day. We were disturbed every night by banging doors and people talking. The hotel needs modern windows and better soundproofing in the walls to block that, as well as the trams passing through the night and industrial machinery at 2am. We booked through Hayes Travel/Jet2 and won’t do that again. If we’d researched the area properly, we would have chosen somewhere else, since it wasn’t suitable for tourists. As I said, though, we had no problems with the lovely staff.

The staff were polite and friendly, and breakfast had a good range. There aren’t many tables, so it’s best to go early when it’s quieter. Our room stayed cosy without needing the heater, and the shower had strong pressure with plenty of hot water. It was cleaned daily, and the sheets were changed on day three. The nearby tram stop made getting to the old town easy.

The friendly staff were helpful and gave us good information. It’s a decent budget place, with a nice, varied breakfast. The centre is a bit away, but frequent, cheap trams are a two-minute walk away, or about one minute if you walk briskly. The room let things down a little. It was clean, had tea and coffee, and the bathroom, WiFi and AC all worked well. But there’s no soundproofing, so hope for quiet neighbours. I think I know all the words to Sto Lat now, though the singing was pretty discordant. The bed was two singles pushed together, with mattresses at slightly different heights, so I kept falling into the crack and didn’t sleep well. As a solo traveller, I’d rather they’d left the beds apart. The TV had just one English-language channel, Euronews, which leaned centre-left and played on a one-hour loop. Galicya was good, but there’s room to improve.
