Royal Apartments

The staff weren't friendly, and the beds were uncomfortable. The rooms were smaller than advertised, really noisy, and the walls seemed paper-thin.

The room was spacious and comfortable, though the carpet really needs cleaning. It's in a quiet neighborhood close to the train station and tram stop, with the city center walkable and several restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

The location was great, and the room, bed, and toilet were a decent size. They also kindly let me check in early. But the bedding was a shock. I found several hairs on the blanket and hair on the bed. When I called the manager, she said she could guarantee the bed was clean but that the washing machine was causing problems. There was no apology or sign of embarrassment. I had an allergic reaction that evening and had to find a 24-hour pharmacy at 2 AM. The beds need replacing. I was also given a towel with a large hole. Noise made sleeping difficult. Trams shake the flat and run until around 11 PM, and you can hear everything from the other rooms. There's no air conditioning, so you have to leave the window open unless you can tolerate the street noise during the day. There are fewer trams in the evening, around 10 PM or so, and you may not notice as much if you're out walking. I'm still shocked by the experience.

The one good thing was how easy it was to get the room key, and the apartment is very close to food places and transport. The rest left me really disappointed, especially as this was my first and worst accommodation experience. We landed early in Krakow and asked to check in early. We tried reaching them at 9 AM on the day, but I didn't get a reply until after 2 PM. We had to find and pay for luggage storage to get through the morning and afternoon. The apartment was very cold, day and night, with no heating, and there was no thick duvet or spare one. The bedding looked like a child's sheet and was too short. The curtain was in bad shape and wouldn't close properly, so daylight woke us early. There were problems in the bathroom too. The broken showerhead sprayed water in three directions and out of the shower onto the toilet, and the toilet wouldn't flush. The sink plug was missing, the tea towel had a large hole, and the room door was broken.
