Your own apartment in Cracow

For a low-priced place to sleep, this worked well. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the city centre and handy for other parts of Cracow too. We were there in April 2022, and the stay was okay, nothing special but about average for a cheap option. The room was nicely designed, but the walls were so thin we heard people entering the building and our neighbours talking. Since we were only there at night, it was bearable. The owner sounded very kind on the phone. The view was just bins and parking spaces, and the plugs looked very loose and dangerous. I don’t mean to sound negative, and would still recommend the apartment for this kind of low price if you’re only staying overnight.

I’m really sorry, but the only positive thing I can say is that the owner seemed nice on the phone and clearly cares about the place. We felt deceived by the welcoming photos, which suggested a coziness that wasn’t there in reality. The place was hard to find, tucked away in a shady backyard. There was no reception, and we were unsure how to get in, so we called the owner. The key was inside a number lock. Once inside, we were met by a washing machine and a mess. Anyone could use the machine whenever they wanted, and its noise came straight through to the room, making it impossible to relax. Sounds from other guests coming through the front door also carried as if they were entering our room. There was no sound isolation. It was freezing when we arrived. The room was clean but only functional. The bed had a very basic, shaky wooden frame that made lots of noise even when sitting down, and turning over at night would wake us. The sheets seemed clean, but the overall feel made us uncomfortable sleeping in them. The kitchen looked like it might have been modern in the 70s, and although food could be prepared there, it wasn’t welcoming or enjoyable to cook in. Our window faced a huge food truck, and it seemed anyone standing outside could look right into the room. There was no sense of privacy. We decided not to stay and booked somewhere else after only 20 minutes. There’s no refund, so bear that in mind when booking.

Watch out, the host charged me about 10 Euros extra for one night at the final reservation step. Read all the conditions carefully. The apartment is in a courtyard that’s poorly lit at night, which didn’t feel secure. The fridge next to the bed was too noisy to sleep with. Cleaning was poor, with lint under the bed, and the duvet was too small for two and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this apartment.

I really enjoyed this place. Reception is open 24 hours, and you can get pretty much everything you need. Just one small thing, the streets are like a ghost town in winter, which can be a little strange if you’re new to the area.
