Modryna - Modrzewiowy Dom

We came with a few friends, all with kids aged 8 months to 4 years, and it worked out perfectly. Even with both houses fully booked, it still felt like there were only a few people around. You can really relax here. Just be aware that this place is built for families, so expect lots of children if you come without any. There’s a huge playground between the two buildings, with a trampoline, several kinds of swings, and three slides. There are nets for volleyball and badminton too. By the playground, there’s a big fireplace with grills, so you can make a fire and cook sausages or something. There’s also a small pool where you can swim a few lanes with the little ones. Twice a week, supervised childcare is offered from 10am to 3pm for around 50zl/day. The kids play outside, look for snails, and so on. We only had breakfast, which was solid, with cheese, meat, tomatoes, fruit, flakes, and more. It was a good start to the day. The staff are nice and always ready to answer questions about your room or nearby places. The location is great too. It’s a 5-minute stroller ride to restaurants serving fish, pizza, and good Polish food. A short drive gets you to lovely hill walks or a zoo in the woods. Each of the two buildings has a few bedrooms, including bathrooms, and a kitchen if you want one. The manager can provide a baby bed without any trouble. The rooms were clean, and I think each one has a small balcony. The house is a little noisy, though. You can hear people walking on the wooden stairs, especially in shoes.

Mała Modryna is in a beautiful spot, and the cottage itself looks lovely. But the food setup was disappointing, despite the place’s potential. The room kitchenette is just a fridge and kettle, with no hotplates, burners, or microwave in the rooms or shared spaces. For a hot meal, the only option is to cook on aluminum trays using the grill under the gazebo behind the cottage. The tap water has a lot of iron and smells so bad that brushing your teeth is impossible.

We ended up extending our stay partly because of the location and the lovely owner. It’s pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us. I’ve read comments saying the rooms aren’t well maintained, but I don’t agree. Everything was clean and neat, and in winter the snow is cleared constantly. No complaints from us, and we’ll definitely return.
