Hotel Krasicki

We spent three nights at historic Hotel Krasicki in Lidzbark Warmiński. The hotel is a lovely building in a picturesque town full of history. Our visit overlapped with a Masked Ball. We didn’t go, but enjoyed listening to the music from our windows 😊. The location was beautiful, with a large woodland nature reserve right on the doorstep and pleasant walks and river trails. The town museum, reached through the hotel courtyard, gives you a look at the hotel’s and the area’s history. The town itself is nearby, with small local shops and good transport links to larger towns. Our room was lovely and clean, with the amenities we needed: a fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, bottled water, dressing gowns, and fluffy white towels. The en-suite had a nice walk-in shower and hair and body wash. Breakfast was a buffet with meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruit, and cooked choices such as eggs, sausages, and pancakes. We ordered room service twice. Both meals were fresh, generous, and tasty, and dinner in the restaurant was good too. I can recommend the traditional Polish dumplings and salmon in butter sauce. There’s also a buffet-style dinner. I also treated myself to a hot-stones massage at the hotel spa, which was wonderfully relaxing. Meals and spa treatments cost a fraction of what you’d pay in the UK.

The rooms need a refresh and could use more light sources. Some things, including lamps and switches, were damaged or weren’t working properly, so the price didn’t feel in line with the quality. The castle itself is an interesting idea for a hotel.

The castle was beautiful, and the rooms were nice and clean, but the service wasn’t what I’m used to. There was a large private event, and the staff seemed to put those guests first. We asked for champagne glasses and were told we wouldn’t be given any, even though they were polishing about 100 glasses. The staff could have been friendlier too.

We came back to Hotel Krasicki for a second visit in summer 2023 and stayed in the lovely Napoleon room. At 60 kvm, it was probably one of the best rooms this wonderful hotel has to offer. It was amazing, with a huge balcony where sitting outside was relaxing and enjoyable. There’s no air conditioning in the room. I asked reception for a fan and they brought one right away. Since the hotel is an old castle, installing air conditioning in the walls is probably prohibited. Everything else about the hotel was amazing. We enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool, and dinner at the restaurant was truly amazing. We ate probably a little too much, but couldn’t help ourselves. Breakfast on the second and third days was wonderful too. All in all, the hotel was truly great, and we’ll definitely return. I first visited in summer 2020, and I was just as happy with the hotel this summer as I was back then.
