Cynamon Hostel

The price was reasonable and the staff were friendly, though they didn’t always seem very capable. They’d mixed up our booking even after my Polish friend phoned a week ahead to make sure everything was sorted. Our two-bed room was tiny, with crumbling window frames and just one plug, tucked behind a wardrobe. It didn’t feel quite ready to live in. Later we were given an unexpected space in a dorm, which was much better than that room, especially with its paper-thin walls. In the evening the lights kept flickering on and off. The breakfast room, stairs and other shared areas felt among the most soulless I’ve seen in a hostel, and I’ve stayed in plenty. It’s fairly central, at least.

A clean, decent hostel right in the centre, with friendly service. Breakfast costs 5 EUR and is good, with tea or coffee, and even prosecco if you want one after a party. A handy place for a short trip to Lodz.

The pictures on booking.com look about ten years old, and the place doesn’t resemble them. The carpet was dirty, and noise from other rooms kept me awake. They charge too much for this. We were disappointed and won’t be back.

A really nice venue for meetings or conferences. The room is laid out well, and the kitchen is lovely and has everything you need.
