The conference room lights failed, so our group had to finish the event squeezed into the luggage storage area beside the suitcases. That was only one of many problems. Several bathrooms were dirty, drains were blocked, and the corridor smelled of sewage. The food was poor, including fish that seemed off, and kitchen staff couldn't say what kind of meat they were serving. The hotel sits beside a motorway, and I had no curtains on the window facing the bed, so road noise and light kept me awake. When I asked about getting curtains, I was treated like I was crazy. The air conditioning came on for everyone at 4 a.m. Reception let surly, drunk people hang around all night and ignored our requests to have them leave. When everyone complained, staff responded with the same uncaring attitude.

The sauna was decent, but there was nowhere to leave my clothes and no robe to wear from the room. The rest of the stay was bleak. There were marks on a lot of bedroom doors that looked like someone had tried to force them open. My safe didn't work, and the bedroom was too hot with no way to switch off the huge radiator. The view was of a noisy motorway. I was there to run training for a large company. On the second afternoon, the training room lights went out and nobody could get them back on. That first night, students sat drinking and talking on chairs in the hallway, keeping me awake. Apparently this happens often. Staff seemed weary when I raised the problems.

Inga was attentive and friendly, making sure everything was right, and the breakfast itself was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented. Such a lovely start to the day. I'll be back!

The free sauna, parking, and excellent breakfast are what make this remote four-star hotel good value. You can barely hear the busy highway. But the materials look like the cheapest available, and after ten years of use the wear is obvious everywhere. The stairs are lit in a dangerous way. Our room had decor in some unusual places. I think it may have been set up for one extra bed.
