Villa Centrum

You can find affordable, basic accommodation here in a prime part of Malbork if you don't expect much. It's in a quiet side street at the end of a cul-de-sac, and both the castle and city center are a 10-minute walk away. A simple place for a stopover, with an excellent location.

I can't rate it above one star because of the spiders and hair on the wall. The room was full of spiders, and since I'm afraid of them, I had to kill them until midnight before I could sleep. The bathroom was poorly kept too, with spiders, mold, and shaved hair stuck to the tiles. When we arrived to see the castle, a friendly, kind woman greeted us and gave us the keys. The hotel's communist-era style didn't bother me, but I suggest using bedding and towels in the same color. The shared kitchen was relatively clean, and the old bedding smelled clean. I hope this review leads to a few small changes at the hotel.

The safety issues stood out first: sockets were coming out of the walls, wires were poorly insulated, and screws protruded from the wall. The glass veranda door had no curtain, so it could be seen from the parking lot. Inside, there was grime, cobwebs full of dead insects, mold and mildew, plus a dirty chandelier with debris and dead flies. The bathroom grout looked like alien galaxies had taken shape in it. A cabinet low down was badly decayed, as was the bathroom door. The pillows were pillowcases stuffed with old stool pads. In the kitchen and bathroom, the taps were dirty and held together with tape; wallpaper was peeling, and the floors and furniture were dirty too. Even the building's exterior facade looked bad. The heating and bathroom hot water only started after I intervened with the owner, who also kept us waiting for hot water. The name "Villa Centrum" is very misleading. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Please see the rest in the photos.

The location was great, close to both the market square and the castle. If you're visiting the castle and just need somewhere to sleep for the night, this works. My room was relatively clean, but nothing special, and the bed was soft and in such poor shape that I had to be careful it wouldn't fall apart. It felt a bit like a workers' hostel, and the room was really only for sleeping.
