Hotel Juvena Wellness & Spa

The pool and sauna were really nice, and the hotel itself was clean and well maintained. But our stay was overshadowed by a receptionist who came across as very unprofessional, greeting us with strange and inappropriate questions as soon as we arrived. I was genuinely surprised that this was our first impression at check-in. I strongly recommend management look into it, because that behavior doesn’t reflect the hotel’s otherwise high quality.

For the high price per night, we expected much more and left disappointed. The hotel says it’s adults only, but there were children during our stay, so that didn’t seem consistent. Our rooms weren’t cleaned daily despite us asking, and after three nights the hotel said the bedding would be changed, but it wasn’t. The door to our room was damaged and didn’t work properly. Reception didn’t suggest moving us, and we waited for maintenance, which made us late for a meeting outside. At breakfast I found that the butter and margarine were past their expiration dates. I told the staff, who took them away, removed the wrappers showing the dates, and put them back on the table. When I asked for the packaging, they wouldn’t give it to me. That’s unacceptable for a hotel of this standing. Before we arrived, we’d received a very nice welcome email saying there would be a surprise waiting at reception. Nothing was there. This hotel still has a lot to learn before it deserves to be called four-star, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

We stayed for five days with my partner. The reception staff and cleaning team were both very kind, and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. There were several pools in the swimming area, with the main pool at a comfortable temperature, plus fantastic jacuzzis and three different saunas. I didn’t see any cameras inside the saunas or in front of them. The gym is small but adequate, and it has water available. Cameras throughout the building were a bonus for me. My partner really liked the Thai massage, and I had a very relaxing foot massage.

The spa access was the whole reason I chose Hotel Juvena over the other nearby hotels. I was told by phone before booking, and again when I arrived, that I could use it after checkout. On my birthday, when I was checking out, they suddenly refused. It completely spoiled the relaxing stay I had planned, and I found the change and the way it was handled deeply disappointing. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone who expects a hotel to keep its word.
