A low-cost spot for spending the night while on a seaside break. The sea is nearby, which is a real advantage. In the room there’s a bed, wardrobe and sink; hot showers and two toilets are shared on the floor. The downsides: no window blinds, and our room was on the first floor. There were lots of children staying, so it got very noisy. The hallway smelled of tobacco, which was unpleasant if you don’t smoke. There’s a shared kettle, though tenants sometimes take it into their rooms, and the fridge is tiny with hardly any room for anything. No Wi-Fi.
For me, the best part of a holiday is being by the sea. I love Międzyzdroje and feel at home there, and the resort’s location only adds to that. If you’re too tired or unwell to head down to the seaside, you can go upstairs to the terrace, lean out and see the sea. I’ve stayed here twice, in back-to-back years, and I’m happy with both visits. I’m planning to come again this year and will keep defending the place. A lot of the complaints I’ve read seem unfair to me. The kettle is in the hallway, but people can share it and chat while the water boils. There’s a washing machine available for free, though I don’t see much need to do laundry or dishes on holiday when we usually eat out. I don’t need a TV either, with Eva cinema nearby. To me, taking a break from comforts is part of relaxing, and a shared bathroom didn’t bother or offend me. I also saw people who had bought apartments there and seemed to struggle with the arrangement, seeing the sea only through a glass balcony. I saw the same people each day. It’s nice they could afford those luxuries, but I wish they’d reflected a little before pouring out regrets and unverified accusations. Someone mentioned bugs, but perhaps an entitled guest brought them along and is blaming others to distract from that? I haven’t brought anything home from either of my stays. I could argue with the complaints all night.
The one pleasant part was the polite, friendly woman who answered the phone, though I had the impression she already knew what conditions were like and wasn’t surprised. We got in by train at about noon, worn out and ready to check in. A young man loudly and rudely told us we couldn’t do that before 3 PM. I’ve stayed in plenty of places and have never been welcomed so badly. We were given a supposedly “free” room that smelled like a cesspool, had bugs and lacked basic things. Soon we were told to leave because it had been assigned to someone else. The next room was worse, with a battered cupboard, dirty drainpipe and trash bin underneath. Flies and moths were about, and the only furniture was a bunk bed and a worn couch. Bathrooms and toilets were shared and in awful shape: dirty shower trays, hair in the showers, neglected toilets, no toilet paper and broken windows. The refrigerator was filthy, flooded and crammed full; the microwave was rusty and moldy inside, so unusable. The building stayed open all night, which felt unsafe, and we ended up cancelling our stay. A good location and clean linens don’t make for a pleasant stay here. The staff’s outrageous behavior, poor condition of the place and lack of security make it impossible for me to recommend.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even for one night. It’s worth paying more to go elsewhere. The building is filthy and old throughout, and needs a full renovation or to be demolished. Rooms have no amenities, and there are no towels or hairdryers. The restrooms have no paper towels and smell bad. What they call beds are fifty-year-old sofas, hard and falling apart, with springs digging into you. The windows look museum-worthy, and even closed, the doors barely stay in their frames. Shared restroom stalls offer no privacy, with everything visible from outside. There’s no reception or security, and the doors were wide open all night, so anyone could walk in. Nobody was around to enforce quiet hours. A club is also in the building, with loud music until dawn; drunk guests came back and fought noisily in the hallway. There’s no internet, and parking costs extra. I just hope I didn’t bring bedbugs home.
The room was clean and in good shape, and the staff were welcoming. The owner was nice too. The location is handy, right in the center and close to everything. I was there for just two days, but having no hot water in the tiny bathroom was a real nuisance. There wasn’t a kettle in the room either, so you had to go into the hallway to use one. Parking was another complaint: 80 PLN for two days, while the free parking came with a damaged car mirror. I don’t think hotel or resort guests should be charged for parking.
