Hotelik Centrum Bed&Breakfast

The only thing going for the place was its location right in the center of Olecko. There was no parking, though. We’d reserved at Hotel Mazury, but after traveling 588 kilometers we arrived to find no room for us. The owner said he already had reservations with Booking.com and offered us a room at Centrum Hotel instead, which he said had better conditions. The room and general hotel decor looked like they dated from the late 1980s or early 1990s. Everything was old, dirty, and neglected, with stale bedding and cobwebs on the walls. At 160 PLN for two people, the price didn’t match the standard at all.

I only slept there for one night out of necessity. The bathroom was in awful shape, everything sticky and broken, and both the bathroom door and entrance door were warped and hanging crooked. The sheets were darned, there were cobwebs, and the bedding smelled like a laundry drying room that also had a fire smell. When we arrived, the owner added 20 złoty to the price and changed it with a marker on a note posted at reception. The only good thing was the relatively modern TV. A complete mess.

The bathroom was so filthy I couldn’t even wash, and the worst part was dried excrement on the sheets. I have no idea how long the bedding had gone without washing, and the rest smelled just as bad. For "only" 120 złoty, with no receipt, of course. Dirt, stench, and rudeness. I’ve never experienced anything like it, not even in poor Africa.

I once slept in Kraków near Wawel for 300 zł. For 100 złoty in the center of Olecko, I was greeted by a fly under the pillow and pubic hair on the sheet. Don’t come here under any circumstances. You’d be better off buying a blanket and sleeping in your car. The staff were drunk or not in their right minds.
